Writing Exceptional Briefing Notes for Meetings

Time: 3:00 pm -- 4:30 pm EST

Cost: $247.00

Group Cost: $895.00

Summary:

Your Deputy Minister or Minister is scheduled to meet with a key stakeholder group or attend an important conference. As the subject-matter expert, you have been asked to write a briefing note.  A scenario or meeting note is very different from an information or decision note. Do you know the best practices for writing the kind of meeting note to assist your senior official and achieve the outcome sought by the department?

This training session will enable you to:

  • Understand the dynamics of a senior level meeting
  • Write strategically to achieve the outcome sought by your department
  • Develop the skills to prepare an excellent note
Who Should Attend:

This session is designed for public servants who write briefing notes for elected officials or senior officials.

In this information-packed Teleseminar, you will learn:
  • The questions senior decision-makers ask before going to a meeting
  • How senior level meetings unfold
  • How to develop a 'game plan' for the meeting
  • The elements of a “good” meeting note
  • Tips for writing talking points the person attending can actually say out loud
  • And more....
Presenter:

This course is delivered by a highly experienced practitioner. David is a former Senior Assistant Deputy Minister and Assistant Secretary to the Cabinet in the federal Privy Council Office with over thirty years of experience briefing Prime Ministers, Ministers and Deputy Ministers. For over fifteen years, David has conducted more than fifty programs in policy writing and briefing notes across public sector departments and agencies.
